Speaker in March 2013 was Deborah Begley who, with her husband Michael, own Terra Nova Garden, Dromin, Co Limerick. (www.terranovaplants.com)
Deborah spoke very amusingly to a full house of DGS members and friends on Monday March 4. She kept us spellbound for 50 minutes (without notes) about rare, well known and not so well known plants in her garden many of which were raised from seed.
The garden is situated inland on heavy soil and in a frost pocket but despite these disadvantages she showed us what can be done in apparently unfavourable conditions. Her garden can be visited (as per her guidance on the website).
Her visit, with some of her amazing selection of plants, is an encouragement to members to try our hand at planting the odd exotic……
